MGK-stage
Ribe Jazz Festival was born one of the motives was that it must be a festival with all genres inside the jazz. Since the very beginning we have been allies with the students from MGK in Esbjerg and Vojens. They have been delivering exciting music I various styles and genres. In fact you could say that Ribe Jazz Festival in its tender years was built on MGK and Academy bands for which we are very grateful. Nevertheless we have been lacking venues where the upcoming talents can play their own original music to a broadminded audience, with a good setting and conditions. Now we have put that down because apart from a great Academy Stage we took initiative to the MGK Stage in the garden of Sabin's Café Valdemar. We have contacted the students (and teachers) at MGK Esbjerg and Vojens, young musicians on the way finding their own musical identities; an invaluable and most important contribution to the food chain of music. Four MGK bands said yes to the invitation and they will come playing their music in the garden of café Valdemar and about the streets forenoon Friday 24 July. The MGK bands are:
