ACADEMY STAGE
This year, once again, the Ribe Jazz Festival offers students from the West Jutland Academy of Music their own stage. On the ACADEMY STAGE, young up-and-coming jazz musicians will present their own music in unique surroundings. It is a very special experience to hear new, experimental compositions in rhythmic music bounce off the medieval walls of the old Ribe buildings. And there are views of the nearby ancient harbour, Skibbroen, where, for hundreds of years, ships from all over the world landed their exotic cargoes. The music, too, is inspired both locally and globally. The West Jutland Academy of Music has produced many fine jazz musicians through the years. Three graduates of the West Jutland Academy of Music are currently nominated for Danish Music Awards. One of these musicians is Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard, appearing at Ribe Jazz Festival this year. The students playing on the ACADEMY STAGE are from various years, and you can hear fine voices, a plethora of instruments and stacks of brilliant ideas. Three of the students have co-ordinated the music on the ACADEMY STAGE, the soundman is sponsored by West Jutland Academy of Music, and Lise Frederiksen and her friendly and helpful staff at Quedens will attend to both the young musicians and the members of the audience that find their way to this delightful corner of the Ribe Jazz Festival. Program: Saturday 25 July 10 am - 11 am: Michelle Lyngholt
